Synopsis
Who watches THE SHEPHERDS by Nikos Papatakis on their computer on Holy Saturday? Are we still living in the Greece of Tonia Marketaki? Who writes five stories inspired by THE EXCURSION of Takis Kanellopoulos? And who remembered the Kifissos River before it was covered over, along with the songs of Stratos Dionysiou, while watching ULYSSES’ LOVE by Vassilis Vafeas?
Thirty-five texts by young artists about thirty-five Greek films from the period 1960–1990. Strange, overlooked, neglected, forlorn, classic, and accursed Greek films become the starting point for short stories, brief critical essays, personal confessions, imaginary conversations, poetic attempts, and possible scripts that rewrite the history of Greek cinema, bring to light unknown affinities between word and image, interpret aspects of contemporary Greek reality and its relationship with cinema.
Essay title
